Housing a basic right of every Zimbabwean citizen

The UN Habit Agenda defines housing as a basic human right which must be accorded to all regardless of gender, color, race, religion etc.The general definition of house is a building or dwelling in which people live. When one visits the area where the river makes its way near Mbare in Harare,Mazai river adjacent to Makokoba Bulawayo ,dust streets of Mtapa Gweru ,one is sure to find people with no hope of ever owning a house. Access for the poor to urban land and housing is one of the main challenges facing the policy makers in Zimbabwe . Housing shortages have been stalking Zimbabwe for many years now .The harsh economic situation that dogged our country. However ,escalating housing prices ,limited access to land, housing finances and land regulations which govern sub-division of land and low supply of subsidised housing has made it difficult for poor as well as middle class households to enter the formal housing market.

When its hard to access a house in Zimbabwe ; the residents of New Canaan Highfield at Mai Chaza and Geneva area are up in arms against Harare City Council whom they are accusing of trying to evict them from the houses they occupied since way back in 1970s because they don’t have title deeds. The issue if not properly handled by the Harare City Council in a holistic manner can end up political as the election fever begin to gain momentum. The tenants for staying in these houses for more than 40-50years ,they deserve the ownership without paying any cent to council. If council want to demolish these two roomed houses and claiming that they would build high risers. First they should provide decent houses for the residents. Yours truly is informed that already 3 tenants were evicted for non payment of rates which were amounting to $4000. Can rates of a two roomed house amount to $4000 in less than 5years? The residents have been given invitation letters by council to come to their district office on different dates starting today. The issue why now they want to evict them from these houses . Who is behind the motion of eviction ? Is it a political gambling but the main issue is on children and adults who had established the sense of belonging ; those two roomed houses is there security and only what they have. The City fathers of Harare be good stewards to your residents . Handle the issue with wisdom .

However, delivering a basic house on a serviced plot remains a complex process, riddled with planning approval delays and overly high infrastructure costs. In a green-field development ,the first step is to identify suitable land with easy access to economic opportunities and other social amenities. On completion of a basic feasibility study, the next step is to secure enviromental and planning approvals .Besides the cost factor ,this process is entangled in burauctic red -tape and can take several years to obtain. This long waiting period puts further financial burden on the developer and derails the entire development.Once the approvals are in place the next hurdle is financing the installation of land infrastracture such as roads, sewerage, water and electricity.Municipalities impose stringent and unrealistic infrastructure standards as conditions of approval.

The issue is on ward Councillors,Town Developing Department,Housing Director , heads in local government institutes because majority of them have a hand in red tape as they will award themselves land and give each other contracts of land developing. We have challenges of housing shortages in Bulawayo ,Harare ,Mutare ,Gweru and all towns in our country .Ask yourself if you are not a barrier of progress in land developing and access of land to the poor. Our government should have foreseen long time ago as our population is growing ,development was supposed to be taking place in line with growing population.

We need people of integrity and sober minds in the progress of land developing. Pasi nembavha , Phansi ngamasela (Down with red tape). Every Zimbabwean citizen nomatter color ,race ,religion and political affiliation has a basic right to own a house.

A Dramatic increase in Street kids And Ladies Of The Night In Bulawayo CBD

Bulawayo CBD has become a haven of high drama as each night sees an increase in the number of children that abandon family life but instead opt for life in the streets . Not to be outdone ladies of the night are also in frantic efforts to cover all the streets. They cover the streets with  their naked bodies and not keeping their intention a secret.

This mixture of sex workers and street kids goes hand in hand with drug abuse ,heavy alcohol intake making street life a tremendous risk to both young men , women and children that bravely chilly weather to come and earn living in a seemingly illicit market. Street kids on their part rely mainly on cheap drugs such as glue and cigarette stubs. They feed on fast foods leftovers . They also indulge in begging for money and sympathy for passer byes. Tinashe 8 years old (not his real name )   ran away from home because his mother had chased away her husband and would introduce to him  a new father every week. The instability in the family unit forced most children out of the parental/guardian love. It is a burden to them to change the father every week. Mengezi (not his real name) is 9 years and his story is more sad. He was sniffing glue and was up to his neck with amnesia that his friend Gerald ( not his real name) kept answering for him. He came from Gokwe after loosing both parents to illnesses related to HIV and TB. Now being an orphaned and vulnerable child made all forms of abuse easier for everyone .They is suspicion that most of them are sexual abused as they seek livelihood options. Image may contain: 1 person, sitting, shoes and outdoor

The story doesn’t not end with street kids . I   heard an interesting story of men who slept at a bank queue , women of the night  were standing on every corner of the street . At around 2am the men on bank queue  were awakened by a loud scream. They saw this naked woman, not a succubus, she stood in front of them. She insisted she wanted to address them. They sat up. She simplified to them what short time was and  what long play was . She then told them how she charged for her services and accepting plastic money . This clearly divided the opinion of onlookers ,some with jeers of admiration others scoffing at her.

The most touching part is seemingly unstoppable moral decay yet the scenario presents a fascinating gender backlash where both sexes are competing for space at night looking for livelihood options and self expression. The question is how long are will able to carry this burden of behavior only seen mainly at night . Who will wake up  at night and engage this divergent behavior?  The issue is on what to put on the stomach. The government and its partners that include civil society organizations ,welfare bodies, churches and concerned individuals arem expected to make seeking a lasting solution to this a priority.

The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education. Martin Luther said so . Education makes your mindset  and capacity of knowledge to increase. Knowledge is power. If you ask  children in Africa where do you want to go and do your higher learning education when you finish your High School . OPEN LETTER TO PROPHET MAGAYA

It all started in Nigeria when prophetical wave came on international radar . The church in Nigeria is one of the biggest foreign currency earners attributed to millions of foreign visitors seeking divine healing from some of the most famous prophets namely TB Joshua whose following transcends international destination. As the prophetical wave grew started to affect the continent and  Zimbabwe  was not left out. We have even our own Zimbabweans flying to seek the divine solution from man of God prophet TB Joshua and Prophet Walter Magaya is among the list. As the word of God in Genesis 1vs12 says ,” a seed shall produce after its kind.” From the time Magaya collided with the grace upon TB Joshua his ministry changed . From that time he started to do extra ordinary miracles ; the wave hit the nation , beyond borders and international community was not left out . The phenominon was so visible in the streets such that of every 5 people you meet will be talking about him. In such a wave the following for his church grew exponatioly such that the venues could not contain the swelling numbers who came seeking divine solution. As he grew famous certain public officials from civil and private society started to also track to his many meetings. That’s how the PHD Ministries got to be known and was established.

As the with modern day churches the issue of partnering with ministry and church oriented projects was never left behind with regards to PHD ministries they have housing scheme projects , agriculture oriented projects , mining just to mention the few. On philanthropical note he personall assists underprivilleged people through college bursaries , funding football , food distribution etc . The mandate of the church is to assist the less previleged , hence forth the activities that PHD came famous for points them fulfilling there mandate as a church organization.

Though the track record is commendable , it is with heavy heart that there is lack of consistence in that good will . It is disturbing that concerning some members of staff in particular that those who have been tireless in the building projects (state of the art hotel , Douglas Dale housing scheme Durawall ) have gone to 4-6months without being paid salaries . Such injustices doesn’t not  end with no salary only but any step asking for salaries  you  are threatened with dismissal. As we are speaking right now all construction workers at Douglas Dale housing scheme have been suspended with no salaries. Who is wrong there is it his aides/ he is not fully informed of what is happening on the ground? Only God knows the truth ,as the word of God says ,” the truth shall set us free.” You are a giver Prophet Magaya , you gave to Zimbabwe national soccer team (warriors) , many underprevilleged families ; in the same way do the same to your workers. Be a center of good corporate governance and be surrounded by generous assistants and close aides . A little house fly can spoil the well baked cake, iam tipping you man of cloth. I don’t hate you . I don’t know how God called you. I honor and respect you as a man of God and as one of us from Mhondoro Ngezi.

Keep on doing the good work as you feed the hungry, heal sick , give shelter to the homeless ,empower those that are disadvantaged but let us not forget when Jesus died he died that our Souls would not be damned to lake of Fire. The Mandate of Salvation is still the Centre of our walk with God. Let us take the opportunity of using these earthly service to lead people to be reconciled with our Heavenly Father. The Good News is still the same it has not changed what it seeks to accomplish. Let us not be distracted by the pursuits that will not serve the Mandate of Christ. What will Profit all that follow your Ministry if all they see and are attracted to are houses, cash, influence and they see your Ministry as fostering such focus.Remember the Bible speaking on Leadership being answerable to the one whom entrusted with His Flock.Tread carefully as Paul said Lest l be a Cast Away. The Word Preached undiluted is the Anchor of the House of God. We salute your commitment to serve but do so in line with Helping God Establish His Kingdom and not any other.Hero worshipping of Man is turtamount to idolatry and we know Our Father is a jelous Father.Songs of appreaciated in any set up but let the Glory go the rightful one. As a leader let that be clear lest the congregates celebrate the vessel and not the Potter. I didn’t say you are not a man of God or fight the anointing upon you sir is just observation of setting fundamentals as we are helping each other as children of God. Tomorow it will be me who need advice / clarity/ direction in line with what God says in his word that we are our brothers keeper.

Shalom Shalom

Chicken Slice sued over food contamination.

My countrymen let’s value humanity more than money. Spirit of ignorance is on its high level. No one cares for anybody. Citizens I urge you to know your rights. No one is above the law .We are all equal guided by our book called the constitution of Zimbabwe. The Consumer Council of Zimbabwe has its origins deeply rooted in the great and noble cause of protecting and empowering consumers by monitoring product quality and service to ensure total adherence to reasonably accepted standards. Consumer Council of Zimbabwe are we still spearheading advocacy to citizens to know what is called consumer right.

On the 24th of June 2017 at about 1445hrs a man bought a regular pizza meat deluxe at Bulawayo Chicken Slice Bulawayo outlet along 9th Avenue CNR Fort Street. When he was now eating the pizza he discovered a big housefly inside a clear sign that the food was contaminated and immediately went back to show the cashier. The cashier invited two other male staff who witnessed the discovery. A female manager also came and notified him that she can’t assist him but gave him the mobile number of marketing personnel who said to be in Harare. The number 073195810 was phoned but the owner of the phone ignored the calls.

The man suffered psychological trauma as of eating and autimately discovering a disease vector a housefly in his food. The supplier of the contaminated food is however numb, insensitive and impersonal on this to the extent of  being evasive regarding the medical assistance This issue has evolved into a legal challenge and therefore in the courts after Muzvuzvu Law Chambers have instituted legal proceedings at the Bulawayo magistrate courts .

Lastly consumers stand for your right. We have equal protection before the law.

IS Money To Blame For Current And Future Challenges?

Why money being blamed all the time? Does money think for you ? Money is a good that acts as a medium of exchange in transactions. Classically it is said that money acts as a unit of account, a store of value, and a medium of exchange. So money isn’t just pieces of paper. It’s a medium of exchange that facilitates trade. We are working very hard so we can earn money.

Is money the root of all evil? The apostle Paul, in his first letter to his young disciple, Timothy, had this to say: “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (1Timothy6vs10). Now this verse is often misquoted as saying, “Money is the root of all evil.” Notice how “money” is substituted for “love of money” and “the root of all evil” is substituted for “a root of all kinds of evil.” These changes, while subtle, have an enormous impact on the meaning of the verse. The misquoted version (“money is the root of all evil”) makes money and wealth the source (or root) of all evil in the world. This is clearly false. The Bible makes it quite clear that sin is the root of all evil in the world (Mathew15vs19,Romans5vs12, James1vs15). However, when we reflect upon the correct citation of this verse, we see that it is the love of money, not money itself, that is a source of all different kinds of trouble and evil.

The issue is the mindset. People usually have this belief that money has destroyed societies and mankind. I disagree because its not the money but the person who uses it. There are rich people who are doing a lot for their communities. We hearing  are a lot of stories because of  attitude and human perception towards money. Do money has audible voice no . Families have broken up because of  money , brother and brother can’t see each other eye to eye. Some people visit occultists/ witch doctors for sake of  microwaved wealth .They even go to an extend of killing fellow man so they can take  human parts  for rituals. Our print and online media have been hit with headlines such as Another ritual killing, Serial killer killed friends for rituals etc. Even in churches , churches are divided if you try to dig out  what causes division will be the leadership perception towards money. How many churches have split so far ? Attitude towards money has contributed . What is going on especially in my beloved nation of Zimbabwe? Money money ,you can’t make it without money . If you want services to be done as quick as possible in any offices ; you need to knock an office door with appreciation money. The knock on effect of the love of money results on corrupt tendencies . If you part away with money  services will be done as quick as possible. Its how our community have become. Yours truly is hearing a story of the workers who were building the durawall for housing scheme in Bulawayo and the state of the art hotel of the young celebrated Prophet in Zimbabwe Walter Magaya that the man of the cloth haven’t yet paid there 4-6 months salaries . They say ,” try to ask about the money ,you will be fired from work by his aides.” Who is wrong there is it his aides/ he is not fully informed of what is happening on the ground? Only God knows the truth ,as the word of God says ,” the truth shall set us free.” You are a giver Prophet Magaya , you gave to Zimbabwe national soccer team (warriors) , many underprevilleged families ; in the same way do the same to your workers. Be a center of good corporate governance and be surrounded by generous assistants and close aides . A little house fly can kill the well baked cake, iam tipping you man of cloth. I don’t hate you . I don’t know how God called you. I honor and respect you as a man of God and as one of us from Mhondoro Ngezi.

My contrymen let’s value humanity more than money . Spirit of ignorance is on it’s high level . No one cares for anybody. Citizens I urge to know  your rights. No one is above the law .We are all equal guided by our book called the constutution of Zimbabwe. On the 24th  of June 2017 at about 1445hrs a man bought a regular pizza meat deluxe at Bulawayo Chicken Slice Bulawayo outlet along 9th Avenue  CNR Fort Street. The supplier of the contaminated food is however numb , insensetive and impersonal on this. This issue has evolved into a legal challenge and therefore in the courts. The love for money has destroyed promising and best practices among emerging youth entrepreneurs for example we have read so many murder cases of young alluvial gold miners who are upon stepping on the precious stones conspire to kill one of the partners . This tragic. The young enterprising minds can not grew and blosom because of greedy.

I personally believe we should stop blaming things that we ourselves have given value to.Did you catch that? Let me reread it. A clear distinction must be made between THE LOVE of money and money itself. Let this truth sink deep into your spirit. God is not anti-money, or anti-wealth, He is anti-money WORSHIP.
